OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (AP) - Another roaming black bear has phone calls coming in to Oak Ridge police.
About 20 people called over the weekend after people in various neighborhoods spotted the animal.
Another bear was tranquilized and moved back into the forest on June 15 after he roamed parts of Oak Ridge and was caught near a Knoxville mall.
Information officer Allen Ricks of the Tennessee Wildlife
Resources Agency said there are more bears in the mountains from Virginia to Georgia than at any time in the last century.
Spring is the time young males roam, often after older males have run them off.
Ricks says the East Tennessee office of TWRA received 115 calls about wandering bears in each of the last two springs.
