Mrs. Mildred Leoda McNelley

The Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge announces funeral services for Mrs. Mildred Leoda McNelley, age 80, of Blue Ridge, GA who passed away Monday, June 23, 2008 in the Fannin Regional Hospital. Born in Fannin County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Green and Mary Rhodes Foster. She was retired from Van Raalte Textiles as an inspector. Mrs. McNelley was of the Christian Faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley McNelley.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Yvonne McNelley of Blue Ridge, GA and Stewart and Doris McNelley of Blue Ridge, GA; one daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Eddie Watkins of Marietta, GA; three sisters, Polly Carter of Marietta, GA, Hazel Wingfield of Acworth, GA and Ann Rhodes Weitman of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren and spouses, Amanda and Scott Conti, Eric and Julie Watkins, Elizabeth and Brian Garrett and Vanessa and Captain Stephen Harper; grandson, Wesley McNelley; five great grandchildren, Amber Conti, Hannah Conti, Lucy Watkins, Rylie Springer and Eva McNelly also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.T. Padgett officiating and remembrances by family members. Music will be by Pam Canada, Brian Garrett and Doris McNelley. Interment will follow in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Anderson, Carlos Wilson, Scott Conti, Eric Watkins, Brian Garrett and Captain Stephen Harper. Honorary Pallbearers will be Thomas C. Gilliland, Thomas C. Gilliland, Jr., Jason W. Gilliland, Terry Ledford, Brad Ledford and Gene Ledford.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday after 2:00 p.m. but especially from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge is in charge of the arrangements.
