Specialized Crackdown on Tn Roads Begins Today

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The Tennessee Highway Patrol begins a summer crackdown Thursday on drivers who speed, drive while impaired or do not use safety belts.
It's called "100 Days of Summer HEAT (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic).
Nearly 500 overtime hours will be used over the next three
months for the program.
Col. Mike Walker of the THP said speed, impaired driving and unrestrained motorists are the top three causes of fatal crashes.
