New York Fugitive Arrested in NC

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - The U.S. Marshals Service says a man wanted in New York on a murder charge has been arrested at an apartment in Winston-Salem.

The New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 19-year-old Lavalle Todd without incident this week.

Kevin Engel with the task force told the Winston-Salem Journal Tuesday that task force and Suffolk County, N.Y., investigators had learned Todd was staying with family in Winston-Salem. Engel says the person answering the door admitted officers and admitted Todd was there.

Todd is charged with second-degree murder in the death of
19-year-old Robert Adams. Police say Adams was shot at a party on Memorial Day.
