From A.D. Frazier, Chairman of Wolf Creek Broadcasting:

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague, Mrs. Rebecca St. John, age 56 of Blairsville, Georgia. She passed away on Monday, March 10th, 2008 at the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 4:00 pm at the Mountain View Memorial Chapel in Blairsville. The family will meet with friends following the services. The Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville is in charge of the arrangements.

Please let me add a personal note to this solemn message. The last 5 years, Rebecca St. John has been the General Manager of Wolf Creek Broadcasting, starting with WLSB in McCaysville and Blue Ridge, then adding WYHG in Young Harris, WALH in Mountain City and finally she was the driving force behind the creation of WACF-FM this past September. For 20 years, radio in these glorious North Georgia Mountains that we call home has had no greater friend and supporter nor greater booster than Rebecca St. John. She lived her work in a way that could only be described as passionate and personal, fun loving, but professional, honest and dedicated. She was gritty and tough-minded woman who made her own way... in the proud tradition of the gutsy, independent Mountain Folk who are forebearers to us all, overcoming adversity and taking life as it comes, no complaints, no excuses.

Rebecca's children and grandchildren are a living testament to her honesty and integrity and to her loving and giving spirit, but Rebecca's extended family reaches far beyond those who share her name. Many of the people who staff our radio station community were birthed into this business under her nurturing care. And for all of you who listen to us each day or laugh with us and talk with us, who tap your toes to our country tunes, who sing along with our gospel praise, who sway gently to the rock and roll that Rebecca loved so well, please know that it was Rebecca St. John who created for you these little moments of peace and joy.

Please grieve with us as we mourn the passing of a treasured colleague and loved one who became a friend in our home and who's spirit will live forever in these blessed mountains through this magic in the air we call radio.

From your Wolf Creek Family, Rebecca, we wish for you eternal peace in the All Mighty's loving arms.
